Meisterjaan /est/
This year marks ten years since the release of Meisterjaan's first album. During this time, Jaan released six more albums. These contain a varied mix of instrumental, electronic and acoustic music. Among the songs there are many special and experimental pieces, as well as completely ordinary, even pop songs, and also a hit song that made it to the national charts. For Meisterjaan's live performances, semi-electronic music consisting mainly of metal or bamboo jaw harps and analog synthesizers is typical. Electric guitar & guitar effects are often heard in newer tracks. The looper, improvisation and spontaneity also play an important role. During the concerts, you can hear everything from the rustling ambient drones played on the jaw harp to the high-octane beats at a tempo of 180 BPM. However, the music remains simple, compact and readable. Meisterjaan is a professional artist who, with his open creative and playful approach, brings the viewer a complete and comprehensive experience.
Mokondza /Gabon, cz/
Mokondza is a group of traditional spiritual leaders who are called "Nganga" in Gabon, Central Africa. Mokondza is also the name of the music group chosen by the leaders and founders of the group – Juvenal Moundanga and his wife Barbora Moundanga. Juvenal, his traditional name Kuma, is a young Nganga and traditional medicine man. He plays traditional music and also creates modern music. He was a member of an international group of traditional Gabonese music that performed in several European countries over the course of 10 years - the Mbeng N'tam group. Juvenal masterfully plays the African musical bow, the moungongo. It is an instrument from Gabon, the origin of which is estimated before 3000 BC. It has long been made from a liana (string) and a flexible branch of a special local bush (handle). It is used as a ritual instrument in the temples of the Gabonese Bantu and Pygmy traditions during spiritual and medicinal initiation rituals. Mokondza’s music is faithful to bwiti traditions and preserves the legacy and symbolism of the ancient spirituality of the ancestors of today's inhabitants of equatorial Africa.
Varganum /sk, ru/
Varganum is a unique musical project with the jaw harp in its core, which was born from the desire to transcend the ordinary and discover new sonic horizons. There are no familiar melodies or standard rhythms - only a stream of sound that captivates you, sweeps you away and transports you to other dimensions. Like a mysterious party hosted by aliens, where the sounds of jaw harps mingle with unusual effects creating an atmosphere that is both enchanting and trance-inducing. This is music to be experienced with an open mind without trying to understand or categorize it. Simply let it permeate your being and become part of your personal aural galaxy. This experience is for those who seek the new, the hitherto unknown, for those who long to overcome the mundane and discover the magic of sound in its purest and primal form.
Technofolkyra /cz, sk/
The music of the young Slovak-Czech experimentalist Technofolkyra combines ethnic elements with modern effects and electronically created soundscapes and rhythms. Mystical chants then add a touch of mystery to some compositions or create a thoughtful atmosphere. The overall scope of Technofolkyra's music production is thus quite wide, where slow passages offer contemplation and faster ones invite to dance.
